My name is Colleen Alcantar. In 2014 I opened a cleaning business and started working for myself. After a 30-year career in corporate America, it took an unexpected layoff and my mother's serious illness to help me realize, that I was wasting my time working in an environment over which I had no control. My mother needed me, and I am grateful for the little extra time I was able to spend with her in the end due to my flexible schedule. Life is short. There is only so much time we have before we run out and cannot replenish. We are an environmentally friendly green cleaning service. Most of our cleaning products are made of natural ingredients, like baking soda, lemon, eucalyptus, vinegar, lavender, and good old-fashioned elbow grease...Combined with a well-trained eye for dirt and you'll see, we deliver a superior clean without harming the environment, filling landfills with unnecessary plastic, or filling your home with harsh chemicals.

How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because My name is Colleen Alcantar. In 2014 I opened up a cleaning business and started working for myself. For the first time, I was in control and doing something I truly enjoyed. After a 30 year career in corporate America, It took an unexpected layoff and my mother's serious illness to help me realize, I was wasting my time working in an environment over which I had no control over.

The Yellow Rose Maid Service was such a joy to work with. Colleen and her crew were professional and punctual. Their attention to detail was the best. They listened to my needs and concerns and were very helpful in answering my questions. They are affordable and flexible and will work with your schedule. The Yellow Rose Maid Service made our day!! My husband and I requested a deep cleaning because we were hosting a holiday gathering, and our house needed more attention than we had time to provide. Colleen and her helper are a dynamic duo. They arrived on time and got right to work, By the time they were done, our home sparkled. We made the decision right then to use them on a regular basis and are already looking forward to their next visit.

I told Colleen beforehand that I didn't have a lot of money to spend on this project, and I feel taken advantage of. She quoted me one price upfront and then charged me $10 more after doing the work. She needed to use my equipment and supplies to do the work.

Clean House Interior (Maid Service)

Colleen came today to clean for the 1st time & she was amazing! She deep cleaned the bathrooms & they just shine! And so does my stove & hood - she got all the grease off! She was very pleasant to work with and was able to work around my 3 grandsons, who were off of school. Reasonable prices for the amount of time she worked. I will definitely have her come again! (From a different Colleen!)

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
