My experience with Coen Construction was absolutely atrocious. Initial quote for the work came in a little high, but the company seemed professional and communicative which I prioritized over an independent contractor. After providing a $5,000 deposit service was delayed for over a month, the company relied on me to source all project materials, and ignored questions which resulted in ordering the wrong parts leading to additional delays. Once the team eventually showed up, they realized I needed a custom shower door which delayed the project another month and increased the cost. Throughout all of my service problems the owner was unresponsive, disrespectful, and refused to talk with me about how to resolve the issue. DO NOT HIRE THIS CONTRACTOR.

Nice owner, hack job crew. Hired to replace siding and trim. Manager of the project was fired a few times during work and it really shows. So many small details are either unfinished or poorly done. Amateur cuts on the trim left gaps and old trim was not prep for paint or just left unpainted. They also smeared silicone to cover screws on the front face of the shingles, the whole house looks like it's covered in bird droppings. Plus they also damaged the roof and electrical boxes. Who knows what other things they skipped on, left me with a time bomb of problems that will takes years to show. I would not recommend.

Work completed as expected. Required a call back to complete the job. Satisfied.

They were highly rated so i went with them. They provided a project manager that didn't oversee the job and failed inspection because of common mistakes. They blames the window on me for having incorrect size. we eventually got he correct windows they didn't finish the deck properly the cut corners and made excused that it wasn't in contract and i had to pay extra for their inconsistencies. the electrician put thermostat on floor so i couldn't see it.They Blamed everything on me. now the final bill came in and they marked up the bill for a 30 percent markup. I called another contractor to evaluate the work and boy did he find all the hidden things i knew were already wrong. Im not a contractor by the way but i have eyes.

I thought I'd provide a 6-month update on the work performed by Coen. In short, we selected them to do some minor renovations to the bedroom and living room - ceiling repair and electrical work - and then paint the entire interior of the unit. It was horrible. We settled a reduced fee and went our separate ways. Since then, we've had to remove the work they did and repaint the entire hallway, bathroom, and kitchen due to paint peeling. Based on the prior experience and having visited during the renovation, they didn't prep a single thing - the walls definitely needed that even prior to other work starting. The new contractors very clearly were able to show how the surfaces weren't prepared at all for paint related to dust under all of the layers from the drywall and other construction work they did. Not a single apology or visit from the owners to date. Don't waste your time, money, or effort on this company whatsoever.

From beginning to end, everyone was a pleasure to work with, the workers were thorough, efficient. Work was carefully done, cleaned up well after every day, and at the end. I would call Coen Construction first thing when the next need arises.

In short, I don't recommend Coen Construction. We settled on a significantly reduced invoice, but I am still correcting the work they attempted. The team was always polite and professional. Their inability to execute a painting job led to this review. I would highlight more problems, but there is a character limit. The project was straightforward: replace two ceilings (drywall), add outlets to two rooms, and paint the entire interior. I visited daily to view progress, hoping to address any issues promptly with a strict move-in timeline. Despite their Project Manager's amenable attitude in addressing problems, they failed to deliver. Sign Off Day 1 - 7/18: The initial sign-off for the project was nothing short of a disaster. The paint job was streaky, with poor coverage on almost every surface. Instead of detailing every flaw, I had to record videos to capture the sheer extent of the problems. Upon inspection, every wall showed the old color through in several areas, large trim sections were left unpainted, four doors only had one side painted, two entire ceilings were untouched, etc., - not minor touchups. The chaos in their workflow was evident, with workers jumping from one area to another without keeping track of where they were. Day 2: They sent a painter to touch up the trim two days later. Checking the work, it was clear he had used ceiling flat paint on the trim instead of the semi-gloss. The result? Glossy trim marred by patches of flat paint, not just small spots but multiple sections over 2 feet long in some cases, and spots on window sills and other trim surfaces throughout the house. While thorough, his work was completely wrong. I brought this to the attention of the Project Manager and the owners, who assured me it would be fixed. They should have entirely redone the trim, but they didnâ t. Day 3: Instead of taking corrective measures on the trim, they spot-corrected the mistakes. To this day, I am still finding areas of ceiling flat on trim. On day 3, they resumed painting the walls and ceilings, all without protecting any surfacesâ a glaring oversight given that they had initially tried to sign off already and removed the coverings. Thankfully, most of the furniture had not yet been moved in. Their work continued with incomplete ceiling coverage, leaving noticeable gaps where the ceiling paint should meet the walls. On top of that, they splattered paint all over the floors and managed to streak wall paint onto the kitchen cabinets, which they didnâ t bother to clean up. Most egregious was their mistake of using the bathroom paint colorâ a matte, high-humidity-resistant finishâ on other interior walls and vice versa. The house is now a Calico. At this point, I was at a loss. Day 4: They returned, once again to "fix" the mess. They touched up the ceilings but used a different brand of paint, resulting in mismatched shades of white. The ceiling are now streaked and patchy. Among other issues, this led to the final straw. I fired them and settled on a reduced invoice balance. I will now repaint the entire interior myself. Aftermath: As I began to correct their work, I find that they used matte paint on the interior walls instead of the specified eggshell. When I attempted to touch up areas with eggshell, the difference was glaring. Now, I'm must buy more paint and live with the matte finish to avoid repainting everything. I hadn't paid the invoice yet; I'm glad I didn't. I find out the outlets they installed were not grounded. One outlet ripped out of the wall when I unplugged a cord. They were prompt to fix this. There are several other issues, but the lack of quality control was astounding. Luckily, I have some friends who are great DIY painters and the work is excellent - two rooms to still finish. I invited Scott and Andrew to view the work; they didn't. Don...
