Reviews
Write a ReviewThe initial quoting went well & I had an estimate the next day. But nothing else went well. The installers had unclear directions & incorrect materials. This meant that the deck was missing the stairs along the entire deck perimeter & there was a trip hazard between the composite board edging and wood decking. CHS did come out to fix that. Overall though, the quality of work is very poor. Deck boards are unevenly spaced, spaced too far apart, & some are short lengthwise. One of the steps was not properly secured & is a trip hazard. The steps are not level. Every 90 deg miter angle is uneven/poorly cut. Some boards were installed with the stamping facing up & some had a lot of dead knots. The side of 1 board was chipped during install & has mold growth. It took multiple emails & phone calls to get someone out to look. I was told they would get back to me quickly with a plan to fix it. It's been 3 weeks & I have not heard back. Calls & emails go unanswered. I paid a lot for a bad deck.

Good work -very busy
I signed a contract and put half $$ down to have a roof installed over an existing deck. Per contract terms, work was to be COMPLETED in approximately 8 weeks. I reached out by phone, text and email to multiple individuals at CHS 2 weeks prior to the 8 week mark for a status update as there had been no contact since contract signing. All messages went unanswered for over a week. When I was finally contacted I was told I will get with you tomorrow with updates, which turned out to be the first lie. TWO DAYS LATER, I was told Getting ingredients very close to starting your project still waiting on some material but will reach out to you Friday with further updates, which was another lie as I still needed to make color choices on materials to be used. It was only after I sent another message to CHS 2 WEEKS LATER, informing them that I was I was unhappy with LACK of COMMUNICATION as well as not knowing when my project would be started, did anyone contact me. I was then lied to again. This time being told I am just waiting on permit to start your project I promise I will call you Monday with updates. Late evening on that Monday I was once again lied to for the 4th time, being told, Sorry so late but did not hear back from permit today I will check again in the morning we are just waiting on approval of permits to get your project going. It was at this time I asked for cancelation of the contract and a full refund of all money paid. I was then asked to Please give me a call this evening would like to discuss your request, which was another lie as my phone call went unanswered and my voicemail unreturned. At this time, I had to secure legal representation in order to cancel the contract and get a full refund. It was proven that CHS NEVER requested permits they said (twice) they were waiting on. I would NEVER recommend CHS for ANY type of work after this NEGATIVE experience.
I would not recommend this company as far as I installation of cellulose insulation for the outside of the house. Bid was twice as much as others. They do have a policy that will match the lowest bid plus 200. That's one reason why I hired them. We'll, it took over 6 weeks for anyone to come out, lots of excuses, then when they did a contractor hired two guys that never have installed this type of insulation. They thought they were coming for attic insulation. The contractor only stayed maybe 40 min to show them how to do it then left. My boyfriend was there and had to show and help them out!! What a joke this whole job was and they still owe me a difference of 540 dollars! That's the difference between what I paid down and the quotes I received from 2 other companies plus the 200 do to over bidding. I hope my money will be refunded as I'm going phone their corporate office and let them know. Very, very dissatisfied with this company and will not recommend them to anyone. Don't know if I'll ever go thru home advisors again either!
Deck rework was done very well. Was a little pricier than I expected it would be but the quality of work was excellent.
From the original call to the final day they were concerned about our needs and what we wanted professional and friendly.
Best price. Fast service. Happy with the quality of the job.
