How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I have always been fascinated with electricity. Hi, my name is Brian Whetstone. I am the Owner and Operator of BDK Electrical Services. I have been in the electrical industry since 1990 when I attended a trade school as part of my elective credits required in high school for graduation. My career has taking me many places. From the frigid cold North Slope oil fields of Alaska to the hot sunny desert lands of Las Vegas and Utah. I have worked many different aspects of this trade including residential, commercial and industrial. I have been a part of building Hotels and Casinos, Water treatment facilities, Merchant Electrical Plants, Oil Platforms, 16 Mega-Watt power generation plant for Oil Drilling Rig, restaurants, schools, homes, commercial buildings, Cellular Site construction and maintainence, just to name a few. I have worked hard to be able to own my own business and provide customers with the best possible experience..

Install an Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Brian installed a 50 amp, 30 amp and 110 outlet outside for a new charging station. His work was professional and completed on time. There was a manufacturing defect with the equipment and Brian ensured that the defective unit was replaced at no charge and in a timely manner. Brian also installed 30 low voltage lights in my paver walkway. He worked with me in the design to ensure excellent lighting. I was very please and impressed with his customer service. I recommend Brian for any electrical improvement projects.

It is not often you will meet a subcontractor that is a go-to-guy for all things electrical. I would recommend this company to anyone that expects to get excellent, professional, timely and courteous service at a respectable price. Also, my wife loves that after every job this company prides themselves on leaving things clean and presentable. Over the years I have come to rely solely on this company for all my electrical needs.

Install or Replace a Light Fixture

Brian is fantastic! We have hired him for several projects at our house. He has moved electrical outlets, put in outdoor lighting, installed and installed ceiling fans. He is on time, responsive and I would recommend him to anyone.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
