Write a ReviewOn February 4th 2025 he came and cleaned the pipe for my husbands garage heating system. He recommended that we extend the pipe to make the system more efficient. We paid him 717.50 to cover what he did and for his return visit to complete the job. (292.50 was for the job he completed and the remaining 425.00 was to complete the job). We have called several times to see when he would return. We had made appointments for March 13 and March 17 for him to complete the job. Both times there was a no show and no phone call. I spoke with Angi customer service regarding this issue on March 21 and I was advised that they would contact the business owner to make this right. I have not heard from either. I wanted to be fair and give the business owners enough time to give us a refund of $425 for work not completed. I want the refund of the $425 so I can hire someone reputable to finish the work.
Hicks responded on 1/16/25 to inspect and fix the existing 24" Gas Insert that was not igniting and met my wife at our home. Hicks quoted a price to replace the ignitor box and a price to replace the entire assembly. He said the life expectancy of the log set I had was 10 Years which was the current age of the unit I purchased from [Provider Name Removed] when I remodeled the home 10 years ago. I was not present at that time, but I discussed w him on the phone and he expressed same opinion to me. I told him if it was to be replaced, I wanted the same Look, Feel and Functionality of the existing 24" unit and he assured me that he could provide that. He agreed that the new unit would have the same appearance and functionality, so I authorized him to proceed w replacement He said he would order the new unit and that he needed to be paid in Full at that time. I did not see his proposal until I came home that evening after he had been paid. He came out to install the unit the week of 1/23 and didn't have the right parts. He finally installed the unit on 1/29 after numerous calls and text. The Unit he installed was an 18" Blue Grass Vented Log Set w simple on off Control. This wasn't even the 24" Grand Canton Brand he had noted on his proposal. It was the wrong size and in no way did it resemble my existing system in appearance, features and functionality. The existing 24" Fireplace Gas insert was LO/Hi Fire unit and it was an energy efficient Ventless Gas Log System and Vent was closed off. My wife complained that the look was not even close to what we had before, and Hicks said he ordered and installed the wrong unit and would have to re-order the correct unit and come back and replace it at a later time. We have pictures and videos of everything showing Both Systems and it was a Poor installation by Hicks and a drastically inferior product. I called [Provider Name Removed] and they came out and looked at my original unit. Their Installation Tech said nothing was wrong w the Unit other than a loose wire and found the problem in 10-15 Minutes. I told him what Hicks had said about a 10 Year life and he said this was a high-quality product that would last well over 20+ Years. I called Hicks and explained this on 1/30 and said I want the unit removed, money refunded, and that what he installed in no way resembled his scope or our conversation agreement on 1/16. I said I would pay him for his time and give him a good reference. He appreciated that and said he would charge me the $150 service fee and schedule a time to come take the unit out. I've had excuse after excuse, no returned calls and text messages. I finally told Hicks via text I was going to take corrective action. He said technically all I owe you is a 24" Log Set and I stopped our conversation. [Provider Name Removed]came out and reinstalled the Original Unit and their professional installer said the unit Hicks put in was not installed or set up correctly.
Came one time as scheduled. The second time they did not show up at all. Nobody called us to notify us that they were not coming. Not a great way to do business.

They did a great job of doing a very thorough cleaning in the house really needed it. Both of the ladies were quite nice.
