Install, Replace or Repair a Main Water Pipe

Jacob came out for an estimate on getting my water back on. While here, he got my water back on, gave me an estimate on the work of replacing a faucet and removing the water softener. The next day Alan came to do the work, was friendly and completed the work efficiently. Both Jacob and Alan were knowledgeable and friendly.

Install, Repair or Replace Plumbing or Fixtures

My water pipes seemed to be clogged. Jacob came out to give an estimate to get my water pipes cleared out, and knew it was likely the water softener (not in use since before I moved in). He hit the bypass on the unit and I had water again. A bathroom sink and toilet are still clogged, however Experts Plumbing will come out and repair them tomorrow and remove the water softener. Jacob was very friendly and helpful in getting the water running again and checking what around the house would need further work.

I am so pleased with Expert Plumbing. I live on the third floor of a condominium. The condo handyman did not even know how to shut off the main water line to the building. Expert Plumbing had to show the condo handyman how to do it. Expert plumbers carried the new water heater and toilet I purchased up to the third floor. When they opened up the brand new toilet box, it was missing a crucial piece. They maintained patience and composure through the whole day. Adjusted my garbage disposal for no extra charge. The estimate was exactly the amount I was charged. They were pleasant and funny. I am extremely happy with the work from start to finish.

Elliott gave us a quote for faucet and sink replacement we needed. He was very polite and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and made recommendations. Two days later Elliott did all repair work necessary in a timely manner, did an excellent job, and cleaned up afterwards. He explained what he was doing as he worked and did an outstanding quality job.

We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
