Write a ReviewI second all of the 1 star reviews. Zach is a grifter. Has the gift of gab. Always has a family or employee issue as to why he can't get back to the job. Gives a pity story of needing work and "could you pay 1/2" or I need more money to "order your materials now as stock is low". Then when it's time to come complete the job he disappears. He should be in jail - wait he does have a record so that apparently didn't teach him honesty and how to be a good human. I can't believe he's apparently "raising" six children. God help us.
I am not surprised about the recent one star reviews. This was the worst experience hiring a contractor. I honestly think he may have googled ?how to replace tile?. I am not sure how he is still in business. I was matched with him through Home Advisor and hired him to fix the moldy grout issues in our shower. He said he would need to replace the tile as well as there was standing water below. Ok, fine. I paid 50% for him to start. He said he would get the tile ordered and get back to me about a time to install. He showed up a week later at my front door, no phone call, no text, no appointment. If I hadn?t been home, would he have left for good? He sounded like he was making good progress in the bathroom, banging away for several hours. He was in a hurry to leave. Only after he left I found grout splotches on the tile, WHITE caulk instead of the clear he promised, and my good bathroom hand towel ruined my dried grout. And the grout? Moldy after a month. So much for the 10 year guarantee.
The job was finished but he did not finish the punch list. During the three months there was a lot of excuses and drama from week to week in his life which extended the length of the job. The more time I has to review the finished work, the more errors I found. Chipped tile, cracked grout, uneven tile, improper spacing, improper alignment, no waterproofing on the hardware, the wrong mastic was used on the large tile (max 15" used for 29" tile). I was told by two reputable contractors that this mastic is for back splashes not showers or floors and would not hold up over time and that the whole job would need to be redone and that the craftmanship was not up to standard at all.
I strongly advise against hiring Zac McClure. My experience with him was highly unsatisfactory, aligning with many recent negative reviews. I hired Zac in early July to address a shower leak, based on his then-decent ratings on HomeAdvisor. Despite initial reservations, I proceeded with the hire. Unfortunately, the project dragged on for two months without completion. On his last day, Zac requested the final payment, which I regretfully provided. This was a mistake on my part, as he left the old shower debris in my backyard and several aspects of the new shower unfinished. As a result, I have been unable to use my shower for over three months now and am forced to hire another contractor to complete the work Zac left incomplete. I haven't dealt with many contractors, but this was a hard lesson to learn. This review is a way for me to move on, as Zac is not coming back to finish the job. I share this review to caution others and contribute to the growing list of complaints. Do not hire Zac McClure; he is unreliable and untrustworthy.
Got a fixed price contract. Paid an upfront deposit. He quit the job long before finishing, leaving an absolute mess. Took him to court. He was supposed to refund me around 2K. Nothing received after few years.
Zack assured me that he could complete this job and we agreed upon a price. The start of the project was delayed due to a former customer not being satisfied with their job. We were flexible and patient throughout this job as there were several cancellations due to various reasons. The deposit was made on 7/16 and the job was not complete until 8/22. Nearing the end of the job, we were surprised with an ?up charge for the design we chose although it was not discussed prior to the work being done. Then he asked for a draw from the final payment for bills and gas. On the final day, Zach rushed to completion without ensuring satisfaction of work and upon my final inspection after allowing the grout to dry, I recognized how poorly this job was done. There are missing cuts in the floor tiles (registers will not fit), grout splashed and hardened on shower tiles, 1/2 inch grout line under the niche in the shower wall (a focal point of the shower).
Do not bother. He is a good talker but a prolific liar. Was supposed to start on 7/18. Did not show. 3 days later his worker showed up at 11:00 left at 4. This was his consistent work hours. Worked two days then AWOL again. Said a tree hit his roof. Sent a pic that I reversed searched on google. It is from a tree in CA. 2 week project and less than half completed. Did not show this week. (I have not seen Zack since he got the down payment). Finally returned message today. Said his worker quit and he is filed bankruptcy. He is not an LLC or an S corp so I doubt that either. Please do not waste your time on this grifter. I was a contractor back in the day and he gives them a bad name. No communication. Makes promises he will not keep. can not tell the truth. You have been warned!
Contract on 7/24/2024 to commence work on 8/5/2024. Proffered has not started work as of ready and refuses to refund my $4K.
Professional owner with capable hands. Be sure to clarify scope in detail to avoid extras.
Just a little burp to get heavy furniture back in house. I love the floors and appreciate Zack and Chris for restoring them!
