Over the last year occasionally the main line will overflow with sewage, and or water from taking a shower, flooding the basement. Snaking the drain sometimes helps but using a plunger has been most effective to get the water back to where it is suppose to be. If toilet paper is flushed down the toilet is mostly what causes the backup into the basement.
