Powerhouse could be your team! They are: professional, personable, precise, perfectionistic, proficient, punctual, and pragmatic. I dreamed of a remodeled kitchen in my old farmhouse for at least a decade and had talked with several other contractors who either couldn't or wouldn't share the ideas that I had for the space - particularly at the budget I had set for the work. After one meeting, I knew that JD and Clayton had caught my vision and were ready to run with it. They also proved ABLE to complete anything I requested - often beyond my expectations. I felt that this father and his two sons treated my project as if it was their own kitchen - and included me as an integral part of the team for planning and decision making at every step. They heard and respected my ideas and offered many great suggestions beyond what I had considered., I feel that this was a true collaboration and the Powerhouse goal was that I was satisfied with the end result and that they were satisfied that they did the best work possible! The kitchen is fabulous and I don't know what I love most about it. From the newly leveled floor, to improved insulation and electrics, to raising the ceiling to the rafters, to combining two small boxy rooms into one huge and functional space, to repurposing the 50 year old solid wood cabinets, to adding a super pantry wall - everything was done to perfection! Truly a floor-to-ceiling-and behind the walls remodel that was completed within the price that we had agreed upon - no surprises or shocks! I don't think that there is anything that Powerhouse can't do and do very well. Certified electricians, master carpentry, expert tile work, creative fabrication of pantry doors....they excelled at all of this. Additionally, these men were a pleasure to have in my home - a real bonus when doing a project of this intensity (of time, money and decisions). They exhibit a strong work ethic, share great senses of humor, set and achieve high standards for quality of work, are never idle, cleaned up the workspace every day, and were always open to sharing ideas and explaining procedures. They get along well with each other - no bickering, no bad language, no dark or moody days! In my opinion, Powerhouse Construction and Electrical is simply the BEST group that I've ever worked with and I consider it a blessing that I found them! As I look to the future. "I signed up to have a modular log home built on an existing foundation. The builder had a number of specifications that needed to be met to get the foundation ready for the new house. I contacted 8 other companies, but no one could help me with my long list of tasks. When I finally got ahold of Highlander Waterproofing, I started by telling them I was a problem child. I listed all the work that needed to be done and Mike told me that nothing on my list sounded sounded scary. I got a couple of visits from Mario, the manager, and Mike, the senior engineer, and one of their senior job bosses. They were all knowledgeable, helpful, positive, and suggested that I use steel supports instead of concrete to save space. Work started in August when Dewey and JT started knocking off the top 2 courses of block. "The Gents" - Dewey (the job boss) Devon, Jimmy, Matt, and Dave - did wonderful work. Because of Murphy's Law, we had to knock some walls down and rebuild them because of bowing, and we ended up adding an internal French Drain. They set rebar, poured tons of concrete, dug footers, put up steel support beams, installed glass block windows, put down sill plates, and rebuilt the front where the garage doors will be. I cannot even begin to say how pleased I am with the work they did. And they were a lot of fun to boot! They let me video them daily, tease them mercilessly, and they had the good grace to laugh when my dog made off with their breakfast jerky. There is still some work to do when the house actually gets here in April - insulating the outside wall, backfilling, putting the sump pumps in, rebuilding the center wall, and digging footers for the porch. I have absolute confidence in Highlander Waterproofing and "The Gents." I would recommend them highly and with no reservations to anyone who needs foundation work. I will add to this post with the final pictures in April."
