"Dan was an excellent floor refinisher. He showed up everyday on time and was ready to work. His price was very fair and based on square footage. He worked with us on timeline for completion of job. We just closed on house and wanted to refinish floors before moving in. As for the craftsmanship, it was more than I could have imagined. That included handling the refinishing under radiators, in closets, installing a door saddle and even repairing some 2 inch holes that we discovered were in the floor when we pulled up the carpets. I think they were originally put there for cable line. Also, I should mention he handled this entire job, which included two full floors of a Dutch Colonial, by himself in 6 days. When it came time to choosing the stain, Dan prepared a few samples on the sanded floor so we could gage the actual look. The result was spectacular. I would recommend Dan to any one in need of an excellent professional floor refinisher. He is a small family business owner and very conscientious of his work ethic."

"First off Rob is a TRUE Professional! We just had new carpet and tile installed throughout the house from a big box store. They removed and replaced trim where they laid tile but not carpet. This left us with mismatched base moulding. Rob was able to correct. Corners are tight, heights are matching, and everything it clean! Courteous, exacting and top notch! Takes his time, does it right the first time. Reasonably priced, exceptional value for the job! Really and truly above and beyond. THE REAL DEAL! Highly recommend!"

"Toscano gave me the lowest bid of the three companies I had come and give me a formal estimate. (Definitely worth getting in-person quotes, despite it being a hassle.) And while the conventional wisdom says that the cheapest company usually isn't the best, the opposite was true here. These guys couldn't have been better. (Btw, if you live in Manhattan, as I do, most companies charge a LOT extra just to come into the city, and they complain about parking, and driving time etc etc. But Toscano is based in Manhattan so they treated my location as a non-issue. Plus, they were very familiar with the requirements of Manhattan co-ops -- Certificates of Insurance, providing written project scope to the management office, etc., and they did all that very quickly and easily and at no additional cost.) But money aside, these were super nice guys - very accommodating and installed the floors while working around my furniture and even without disconnecting my cable/wi-fi, which I needed to have live and didn't want to deal with reconnecting. (Never complained a bit -- not even an eye roll, despite all my special requests.) Also just did an A+ excellent job -- very meticulous and cared about the details. Obviously pros with lots of experience. Good communication too; Tosacano even assigns a project manager to coordinate the job and she called or texted every morning and every evening -- checking in and making sure all was well. The guys were prompt, reliable, efficient, very careful and respectful, and I LOVE my floors! I did the floors throughout my entire apartment, and I tried to minimized the furniture in most rooms, but my bedroom had a lot in it that needed to be moved, and these guys were SO careful and replaced every single thing to exactly the same spot it was originally -- made sure my rug was lined up precisely as I wanted it, etc. I was amazed. Plus, I had an issue about finding the right "transition" pieces to go from my existing kitchen flooring into my new flooring through the rest of the apartment, and the obvious options would not work for me. So I was scrambling to get something that would work, and get it in time. The lead crew guy was surprisingly patient as I explored various options, and he offered suggestions and seemed sincerely to want me to get the right thing that would make me happy -- not just rush through and get it done. In the end, he went above and beyond and did a sort of custom fix so that I could have the metal transition that I wanted, even though it definitely was extra work for him and not part of the original quote. (It was not a lot of extra time for him, but it was also officially not his problem to solve, and yet he did it happily.) I only wish this company did more than floors because I would use them to do my entire apartment remodel. If I have to say one negative thing, I will just mention that the sawing does create a lot of dust, and they kept assuring me that they would come in and vacuu"

So we contracted Jose to remove carpets and installed new flooring in our family room and attic. The jobs were done on time with perfection. Rather than calling it floor installation, the work quality is basically fine craftsmanship: the precision of the installation, details of floorboard transition with and the trims, and perfectly painted stairs. I am super happy with the quality and also impressed by how professional his team was. After installation, they left the site very clean. During this whole process, we had unexpected delay on materials from HomeDepot. Jose was able to thoughtfully shift his schedule to accommodate our change fo schedule, and for the job done within 2 days. "Over the course of the 15 years that my wife and I have been living in our house located in central Queens weve worked with a lot of different contractors, some good, some very very bad. Thankfully, Square Construction and Design was an excellent choice. After interviewing and obtaining estimates from several different contractors we selected Square Construction to do a 5-week major renovation/remodel to the entire upstairs of our home this past summer 2015 (kitchen, living room, bedroom, office and bathroom) and couldnt be happier with the job that Luis and his guys did. They were just what we were looking for in a contractor: easy to talk to and willing to listen; capable of getting the job done in a professional manner the FIRST time; made excellent recommendations, several of which were implemented into the final design; willing to take care of the numerous small detail items that needed to be done around the house (what homeowner doesnt have a dozen of these hanging over his head at any given time); completely trustworthy with the keys to my house while I was away, sometimes days at a time, while keeping me up-to-date with the progress; and willing and able to adjust quickly both to changes and unforeseen additions that had to be made. All at what my wife and I feel was a reasonable price (especially given the other estimates that we had received).
